Everything on Rouvou is based on ratings cast by you and other users. You can rate pages on an 9-point scale, based on how much you like the thing.
After you cast a rating, we take it and clump it together with all the other ratings in order to calculate Approval Ratings and other numbers. But before we can do that, we do two adjustments so that we're sure the numbers accurately represent the current opinions of society as a whole.
This is what makes Rouvou ratings so closely matched to society as a whole. Since our biggest concern is keeping our ratings unbiased, we adjust the ratings to make sure all facets of society are equally represented. We separate voters into groups, based on political leaning, age, gender, and race. Then we make sure each group is just represented as it is among the American population.
Society's opinions change all the time — fast. What was all the rage last year might not be quite as popular right now. Triumphs or scandals can boost or lower a public figures' public image. So, to stay current with trends, ratings on Rouvou depreciate in value over time. A rating starts out with a value* of 1, but every day, that value is multiplied by 0.996. So the vote will have a value of 0.97 after a week. After six months it'll be worth 0.48, after two years only 0.07, and so on. Not to worry, though — you can recast your rating any time, either to show you've changed your mind, or to reiterate your original opinion. Your old rating is erased and a new one with a value of 1 is created.
Here's the simple equation we use to calculate a vote's value:
Now the ratings have been adjusted for accuracy, it's time to calculate each page's scores.
This is the main rating used on Rouvou. As the name suggests, it's simply a page's average rating. It shows society's general opinion of a page. The total values of a page's votes are summed up, and then divided by the total number of votes.
Here's how we calculate it:
• If it's media (movies, books, songs, etc.), and the other page with the same name is also media, then put the
year it was released at the end in parentheses, like this: "The Day the World Stood Still (2014)"
• Otherwise, find the most useful tag from this list,
and put it at the end in parentheses, like this: "Ryan Howard (character)" or this: "Ryan Howard (baseball player)"

The title of any page on this site is not necessarily the legal or official title or name of the person, thing or organization represented by the page. We choose page titles based on the most recognizable term for that given thing. For example, if there was an actor named John Doe, who changed his name to Jake Doe, but most people still called him John Doe, we would give his page the title "John Doe". Similarly, we choose tags for the people, things and organizations represented on the Service based on that they are most widely known for. For examples, if a famous sports player plays a small role on a TV show, that does not necessarily mean he or she would qualify for the "Actor" tag.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so the limitations above may not apply to you.

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Minnesota, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
